question for pastry chefs
An interesting food item appeared in a dream I had last night. I've never seen this and don't know if it's possible to make 'em. Here's how I'd expect to put 'em together.
Take a couple of skewers and make a tree or power pole shape with one "trunk" and one or more "branches" or cross pieces.
Lace strips of phyllo dough around 'em like decorating Xmas trees. Lay flat in a pan. Pour some batter around that will puff up and be very light when cooked. Or maybe other sorts of very light strip dough or something like pani puri and deep fry it on the skewer trees? Must not be heavier than glazed doughnut bread or churros; cake weight is too heavy. Or maybe cook very light puffy flaky pastry and stick it on the skewers after cooking?
Arrange bread "trees" in a bucket, held in place with pebbles or something.
