Christmas has come and gone in the blink of an eye!
Audrey has changed so much in the past month, it's hard to keep up! Here's what has happened:
-Audrey's vocabulary seems to be doubling every day! She has added so many words to her repertoire:
- up
- tree
- star
- angel
- baby
- Jack (her cousin!)
- Papa (for her Grandpa J. - still working on Grandma/Gramsy/Gramps, but she does know who they are!)
- yeah
- meow
- roar (for lions, tigers, and dinosaurs!)
- train/choo choo
- Santa/ho ho
- hat
- please
- all done!
- vroom vroom/beep beep (while in the car)
- car/truck
- BALL!
- neigh (when she sees a horse)
- She can also sign "please" "pretty/beautiful" "car" "beep beep" (that one I made up!) and attempts to do the complicated sign for "turtle." She is also blowing kisses and waving "hi" and "bye bye" a lot more often.
- She continues to LOVE to read. She'll pick out a book, bring it to us, and if I'm sitting cross-legged on the floor, she'll plop herself right down in my lap. She'll do this over and over again with a variety of books. Naturally, she loves picture books, lift the flap books, and touch & feel books. I also got her this book for Christmas: Elmo, Away We Go . It's perfect for how in to cars she is nowadays!
- Yes, she is in to cars. She loves riding in the car and saying "vroom vroom beep beep!" while pretending to steer and honk a horn. She recognizes cars and especially Jeff's truck! She also enjoys playing with cars or trains and driving them on a track. We often go to Barnes & Noble, which has a Thomas Train play area for kids. :)
- Audrey plays daycare with her baby dolls! This is really amazing... She'll wrap her baby dolls in old burp cloths, cuddle and sooth them, and then put them on the floor on their tummy. Then she'll go around patting their backs. Jeff & I thought it was interesting that all the baby dolls were on their tummies and then I realized that that's how they do it at her daycare because they always rub her back! So, Audrey likes to play daycare nap time with her baby dolls!
- She is also really into balls these days. She gets really excited to play with them at home and at daycare. She likes to throw them and kick them.
- Audrey still loves the playground, especially the swings and slides. We took her to Ganesha Park in Pomona this past week and she went down a "big kid" slide all by herself! (By "big kid" I mean we were on the playground designed for kids aged 2-5) That was a lot of fun for her. She also got her own play slide for Christmas from her Gramps & Gramsy - so far she is enjoying sliding on that in the house! Eventually, we'll put it outside when the weather is warmer.
- Audrey has been absolutely fascinated with all things Christmas this year! She loves our tree, which is kid-friendly. She can play with the ornaments and touch the tree. This was a great idea! There's not real mess since it's artificial and we only hung the ornaments that are appropriate for Audrey to play with. She recognizes the star, angels, and Santa ornaments. She also likes "ball" ornaments. We had to correct her in the beginning because she wanted to just throw those "ball" ornaments - we had to tell her those were not for throwing!
- She has enjoyed all the light displays in our neighborhood. Driving home from daycare, I tell her to look for lights. Once we see some, she keeps saying "more?" until we find more. One time we say an inflated Santa on someone's roof. That really jazzed her because they she'd say "Santa! more? more Santa? Santa!" :) We also took her to the Mission Inn in Riverside. This was the first time Jeff & I had gone there too. This place is decked to the max with Christmas lights! It was really amazing!
- Being my daughter, of course Audrey loves to dance! One particular book we have says "D is for dance" and she loves looking at that page over and over again and doing a little head bob along with it! She dances to her toys that makes music and to the radio. It's a lot of fun! Additionally, she was in her first performance! Her daycare class performed to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. - Audrey has also been experimenting with jumping! She first started while she was playing in her crib. She'd yell "KULMP!" and then do a little jump and fall down. We finally figured out she was saying "jump!" and have had fun asking her to "jump" for us! :)

Well, that's all for now... Happy New Year and here's to another year of fun with Audrey!
