Traditionally, I have the week of Thanksgiving off from work (Praise God!). This year, we visited my parents in Encinitas at the front end of the week and spent actual Thanksgiving and the weekend after with Jeff's family in San Gabriel. A lot of fun things happened!
- Audrey let me put her hair up in pigtails for the first time.
- She loved all the activities she got to do at her Gramps & Gramsy's house in Encinitas - swinging, chalk art, sticker art, coloring in coloring books, reading, listening to animatronic turkeys sing, reading, going for walks, reading....
- Audrey got to see her aunt, uncle, and baby cousin again! We had visited them in Cheyenne over the summer so it was really fun to see them again and watch the cousins interact.
- On Thanksgiving, both Audrey and her cousin, Evelyn, slept through the Thanksgiving meal! In retrospect, it may have been better that way. There were a lot of people at the meal, which may have distracted/overwhelmed the babies. Audrey enjoyed eating some sweet potatoes, green beans, and mashed potatoes for dinner. She didn't care too much for the turkey or the stuffing... that will change with time, I'm sure!
- Audrey had a doctor appointment the day after Thanksgiving. She is 32 inches long and weighs 27 pounds. The doctor was very pleased with her growth - she is in the 85th percentile for height and weight! Although she is towards the bigger end, Jeff told me he was always OFF the charts when he was a baby/child. Audrey got three shots that day and any time the doctor or nurse came close to her, she'd cry - even before the shots happened! The doctor said her stranger anxiety is very normal (phew!).
- We spent that Friday afternoon as a family at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Gardens. Audrey had the most fun reading the trail signs!
- Evelyn was baptized that Sunday and Jeff & I were the godparents. The baptism was on the later side of the service so I got to entertain a squirrely toddler for a good 45 minutes leading up to it! I thought Audrey did a great job and hardly made a peep during the service. We were at the back coloring, playing with dinosaur figurines, looking at the stain glass windows, and running around in the narthex. By the time we were at the front of the church for the baptism, both Audrey and I were exhausted. Audrey even let out a huge (loud) yawn during one of the pastor's readings! She took a nap at the church right after the baptism.
Here are some pictures and a video of Audrey "reading" - enjoy!
