Jeff and I took this past week off from work and we were able to have a few solid hours over the course of the week to spend time together, just the two of us. Here is the third installment of Meg's Weekly Recap series!
Monday:
Dropped Audrey off at Daycare then ran a ton of errands. We went to Staples, CVS, Babies R Us, Target, and Party City picking up random things, mostly for me, that I needed to pick up for a variety of reasons. But then the highlight came at noon, when we were done with our errands... We had lunch together at Pho Vi! The first time we'd eaten out alone together since Audrey was born! It was fantastic! We both got Pho - mine was chicken and Jeff's was beef. It was heavenly! After that, we did some chores around the house and around 3pm decided we missed Audrey so we went to pick her up. We went on a walk around Lincoln Park with her and it was a beautiful fall day!
When we got back home, Audrey was holding this leaf. How she got this leaf while she was riding in the baby carrier with Jeff? We have no
idea...
Tuesday: Dropped Audrey off at Daycare and headed out to LACMA to explore the
California Design exhibit. Jeff and I thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the pieces of midcentury modern architecture, art, and design. My favorites were the homes designed by Neutra and the Eames brothers. I also liked a lot of the Eames brothers furniture and toy designs. Jeff was drooling over several books in the gift shop but couldn't justify buying any for the price they were being sold for. Sadly for myself, I heard a baby's coo which reminded me of Audrey.... I got a little unfocused and asked Jeff if we could leave earlier than planned to go pick up our little sweetie pie!
After we picked her up, we took her for another walk. This time, we walked around the Claremont Colleges. Audrey liked looking at and listening to the water fountains on Pomona College and CMC. She didn't come home with any leaves in her hand this time! :)
Jeff and Audrey at the CMC fountain - the same fountain where Jeff got "ponded" on his birthday while attending CMC!
On a quick sidenote, they have added many new buildings to the CMC campus. Jeff was pleasantly surprised to see the new buildings and marveled at the architecture. Our favorite was this open space study room in the middle of a courtyard. It looked totally midcentury modern
and I wished I was a student again so I could have a reason to sit in that room!
Wednesday: Jeff and I made loose plans for this day, which consisted of more chores and errands and packing for our Thanksgiving trip to my parents. Well, all that got changed when I realized that I forgot to go to the dentist the day before and had to reschedule for this day AND when we got to Audrey's daycare, I noticed I had a flat tire. *sigh* So Jeff took me to the dentist and I got some cavities filled (bleh...). We went to El Ranchero for lunch and I managed to eat a cheese enchilada even though have my mouth was still numb. Jeff had to wipe some cheese and sauce I dribbled down myself without knowing because of the numbness! Then we took care of my tire - I ended up having to get a new one. There was a nail in the tire too close to the sidewall to patch up (bummer). Then we did go home and pack and then decided to pick up Audrey earlier. We spent the rest of the day playing with her. :)
Thursday - Saturday: Thursday was Thanksgiving. I made Jeff and myself cinnamon rolls, eggs, and bacon for breakfast and then we headed down to my parents' home in Encinitas for the holiday. My brother and his wife joined us as well. We were a little nervous about this trip because it was our first time taking Audrey somewhere overnight. Well, she did just GREAT! Hardly any fussing, she was a happy baby, AND she slept through the night both nights we were there! She slept in the same room as Jeff and me and I was also worried she'd wake us up often in the night. Not the case! We all slept soundly until her early morning feeding and then went back to sleep. I felt so relieved (and a little proud!) that she adjusted so well!
The Thanksgiving meal was delicious (as always!), we went for walks with Audrey, I met up with my old friend Roz, we had a baby shower for Cassie, and Audrey spent the afternoon of the shower with my dad and brother (3 men and a baby - haha!). It was a great time!
I am thankful for this past week. It was stressful at times but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed having more time to spend with Jeff and Audrey and to also see family and old friends. Even when you're in the midst of changing a flat tire, if you're with someone you love, even those kinds of moments are special :)
(FYI - I neglected to even take my camera out of my purse the entire weekend... So no pictures of Thanksgiving.)
