Yesterday was a busy day for Jeff and I. We were up by 6:30 (which is EARLY for a Saturday). We had breakfast and then went for a little walk around the neighborhood. Then Jeff had to go to an all day retreat for
Pomona Hope, an organization run through our church which Jeff is on the board for. So I ran a bunch of errands and then spend the afternoon at my friend Emily's bridal shower. We reconvened back at the house at 3:30. Jeff rested for a bit while I finished up some chores and prepping my Sunday School lesson.
Then, we went over to the mall to look at stoves/ovens. We went to Sears and bought one after about (literally) 5 minutes of looking! We found one for $400 which we'll pay off over time. It also comes with free delivery and a few small fees to install the new stove and haul away the old one. It will be delivered Tuesday - yey! No more microwaved dinners!
After that, we walked around the mall a little bit. I stopped to get some hand soap at Bath & Body Works (LOVE this store!) and we went to H&M so Jeff could get some ideas for an anniversary present for me - I need a new purse. While we were at H&M, Jeff found a baby bottle on the floor. He surveyed the store to see if he could spot a mom and baby but didn't so he left it. He told me he wanted to return it and I was surprised at his concern. Then, just outside the store, he spotted a woman with a stroller looking through it. He asked her if she lost a bottle and sure enough she had. My sweet husband led her into the store and returned the missing bottle to her. *l'amore!* I was so enamored by his big helping heart! He told me, "If I had lost a bottle, I'd want someone to return it to me." What an amazing father he's going to be!
For dinner, since I was still dressed up a bit from the shower, I suggested we just go out. Plus, I was craving pasta and hadn't had any for a while since we haven't had a stove to cook on. So we went to
Aruffo's in Claremont. Despite what anyone says on Yelp!, the food at Aruffo's is AMAZING! I had the ravioli formaggio, which is basically just cheese ravioli with red sauce and melted mozzarella on top. The meal also comes with fresh baked bread, which I like to dip in oil & vinegar, and a salad (I got Cesar). Apart from Jeff helping eat some of my Cesar, I ate everything that was put in front of me!!! Yes, my appetite is phenomenal these days! Plus, I'm thankful that Aruffo's has cut down on its portion sizes - we used to always leave with a doggie bag but not anymore.
After dinner, we went to
Bert & Rocky's Cream Company just up the street from Aruffo's in Claremont. I got a junior size (smallest) of peanut butter and chocolate. Those are two other sweet items I can't get enough of these days! Unfortunately though, pure chocolate makes me feel nauseous. I can handle it when it's mixed in with other flavors. (Confession - sometimes I come home and scoop out a spoonful of peanut butter and just eat that as a snack. OMG it's delicious!)
After dessert, we went back home and both of us turned out to be exhausted. So we just kicked our feet up and watched a little
"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." Here is Jeff & my favorite scene from one of the episodes we watched - we were both in hysterics!
