Yesterday we held a Memorial Service for Sandra's Dad. It was a lovely, moving service which reflected all the things Brian did in his lifetime--a life well lived, and all the things that his family and friends loved, respected, admired and remembered him for.
I didn't know Brian as well as some of the others who spoke, so I didn't prepare anything to say on my own behalf, but I was honored to read a message from Brian's sister in law, Eve, whom I met when she was here last year for a holiday. I also helped to adapt a song: Obladi Oblada and recorded it with a backing track so that people could sing along with it as the last part of the service. It was a lot of fun, and a great privilege to take a small part in the "send off" of a man who obviously made a great impact on many lives of those around him.
We're both tired, and I know Sandra is probably even more tired than I am, but hanging in there.
We've truly appreciated the kind thoughts and words of everyone who has stood by us throughout this time.
