1. Dead Dragons: What can I say? I'm an inattentive mother, but I do think I've had some good reasons for that, lately. I've raised more than I have killed though. LOL!

2. Australia: Poor fella, my country! Between drought, floods, bushfires and the financial crisis, Australia is taking a hiding (beating) right now. It sucks. But for all that, it is still a beautiful, free, and wealthy country with a lot to be thankful for. I think this year has been as bad as it has, because this is a 2 year. In numerology.

"Two can have many different meanings, representing partnerships and interaction with others on one hand, and disunion and polarities on the other. In symbolizing partnership, two implies that individual achievements are not realistic because accomplishments are best realized through co-operation and teamwork. While duality is required for the formation of life in sexually reproducing species, it is also seen when contrasted with the perfect, unified number one. Two represents polarities such as good and evil, black and white, male and female, left and right. One pole cannot exist without the other; this idea of complementary relationships is best symbolized with the Yin-Yang symbol. Polarity, though, can also create strife and discord. Two may be considered feminine, intuitive, and corresponds with our protective instincts. Negatively, two can be grasping, overprotective and cranky. The cranky aspect of the number two is derived from the disappointment and dissatisfaction of the human spirit when denied first place in anything."

This year also contains the master number 11: "Eleven is a higher octave of the number two and is considered to be a master number (the second master number being 22). 11 is considered the path of spiritual awareness and knowledge beyond the grasp of others. It carries psychic vibrations and has an equal balance of masculine and feminine properties. It is also related to open-mindedness, intuition, idealism, and visions. Because eleven contains many gifts such as psychic awareness and a keen sense of sensitivity, it also has negative effects such as treachery and betrayal from secret enemies." http://www.whisperingspirits.co.uk/site/1/numerology.html

Now I can begin to see where some of the patterns for Australia and me might be emerging from!

3. The Heart Divided: This was the first book length work of fiction that I ever actually finished. It is an historical romance set in Australia during the gold rush of the 1860's it is the book closest to my heart and was inspired by a true story. The gold rush era of Australian History has always fascinated me. I grew up listening to stories from that era, because I grew up in Victoria, a state that was literally founded on Gold. There are so many stories about bush rangers, shady characters, men driven by gold fever, and a lust for fortune and fame, which drove them to extraordinary lengths in the pursuit of the precious yellow metal. I may well revisit this era in subsequent stories.

4. Australian Romance: They say that you should write what you know, and I know something about Australia, and her history, having made the study of it my lifelong passion. Romance just lends itself well to the kinds of scenarios and people mentioned at number three. :)

5. Writers block? No such thing...seriously. Most of the time when I am unable to write, it is more down to a lack of confidence in my own abilities than to the mythical writers block. Writers block is just what I call it when I want an excuse to whinge about not writing.

For pity's sake...help me not to kill any more poor, innocent dragons!
