How NOT to redefine Family Law

Nov 12, 2008 13:21

Australia leads the way in demonstrating how NOT to reform Family Law in order to recognize Same-Sex relationships. In attempting to reform Family Law so that Same-Sex Couples can be recognized as De Facto partnerships, the Government seems to have shot itself in the foot.

In Australia, it seems, more than just Family Law contains a definition of De Facto, and of course, they're all different, leading to gaping loop holes and democratic bungles on an enormous scale. Well done to the government for even attempting to give some kind of legal status to Same Gender Partnerships, but I don't envy them the task of unraveling this mess!
