A (big) Man and His (small) Dog (and the son who find this hilarious)

Louis scowled when his son burst into hysterical laughter at the sight of the tiny dog in his fathers hands.
‘“It’s not funny Julio,” the older Richter said gruffly as his son sunk to the ground in soundless laughter. Louis inwardly sighed in relief when Julio actually breathes, even if it is to howl in uncontrollable laughter.

By now they had garnered an audience. Inez and Anna-Lucia were both standing behind their father, sharing a huge smile at the sight of Julio’s laughter. Louis could feel his own family at his back, drawn to such an unfamiliar sound.

Louis smiled a little at the sight and sound of Julio happy, even if it is at the expense of his old man.

When Julio was all but sprawled on the floor, gasping for breathe and grinning up at him with the most open smile he’d seen from his son in a very long time, Louis set the tiny dog on the ground, helped his son from the ground and pulled him into a tight hug.

And when weak arms hesitantly return the embrace, Louis Richters heart sung with joy.
