WTF deviantArt? Why the hell do you insist on changing thing around on your site every year? What was wrong with version 6? Or version 5 for that matter? This new version DOESN'T actually look more streamlined, you know. It's still the same grey/green shit that you've had for years, only now half the functions don't work.
List o' complaints:
1. SLOOOOOOOOW. Does anyone with a high-speed connection remember the dinosaur days of pixelated images and websites taking more 2 minutes to load, IF they did so properly? Yeah, I thought we were past all that, too. I haven't actually observed pixels moving and merging in years!
2.
They got a bunch of rich and successful business type artsy folk to talk about how great it is. I'm not sure any of them even HAS an account on the site... This is just DA telling us how great they are instead of SHOWING us. Bad form, guys.
3. No search bar from my account page. Have to go to the homepage to look for things. Minor issue, but an issue nonetheless. I haven't used the homepage of DA in YEARS because I didn't need to. I thought that and the pretty preview pics was the point of my subscribed status, but whatever.
4. People's icons aren't loading. This has actually been a problem for a few weeks, but now it's reeeeeeeeally bad.
Other than that mess and the irritation I'm already feeling from people screaming OMGWTFCHANGEITBACKASSHOLES all over the dev pages...I guess I'll get used to it. I already have several times before, right?
The one thing I DO actually like are the drop-down menus. I'm still a bit miffed at how the message system works, but that's not a new problem either. Mostly they just shifted things around and confused the hell out of us. I'm just sick of having to go through it constantly. LJ doesn't even do it this often. DA is well on the way to being another Facebook, but unfortunately there just isn't another art site I like well enough to start hosting my paintings from scratch.
So yeah. It's not an update. It's not an improvement. They just moved things around. Same site, same bugs, same...blah.
