St. Louis Day 2

Jul 08, 2008 21:05

This morning dawned slightly cloudy and warm. After a bit of mix-up with directions we headed to the arch. It was just starting to rain as we entered. We glanced around a bit and went to buy tickets to ride the *small* tram to the top. It's a 4 minute ride in a seriously tiny tram car. At the top there are small rectangle windows you can look out. It was pretty cool. We stayed up there for about 10 minutes before heading back down. There was some pretty cool steampunkish art on the doors to the tram but I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of it.

After the arch trip we went to an IMAX size theater and watched a National Geographic show of Lewis and Clark. It was very well done and very interesting. So much so that we bought the DVD to send to Ed's parents. After that we wandered the little gift shops and the museum.

Around 1pm we headed out and wouldn't you know it, the sun was shining. We decided to head to the Zoo. It's in this big park place and it took us a while to decipher the signs to get to it. Once we did it was great. Definitely a must do if you come here. We spent about 4 and a half hours wandering the zoo taking tons of pictures. I don't even think we saw half of it. It was so warm that many animals were in the shade/caves.

After the zoo we headed out to find dinner. We were thinking tex-mex, but after driving by the place and deciding it was a bit scary looking we headed to The Hill for Italian. It was a good thing we did to! We went to Lorenzo'sand the food was amazing. A pretty crazy storm hit just as we got there to add excitement to the evening.

After dinner we headed back to the hotel. All in all it was a very fun day. We may try and hit the botanical gardens tomorrow in the morning, and perhaps the caves in the afternoon. A lot will depend on the weather.

Now I am off to work on my photo blog. Just about 400 pictures to sort through :) Oh and 8900 steps today, a personal best. I might go wander around to top 10000!
