So the other day (Thursday) Chris had surgery.. A "sub-acromial decompression" surgery... Surgery was supposed to be at noon, but didn't happen til about 3-330.. Before surgery they insert this catheter that is to be connected to his pain pump. He said it took them forever and hurt REALLY bad when they put it in, and had to take two tries at it. Well so then, they intibate him for surgery. Now, when someone is intibated they've got a tube down your throat and they're pushing air into your throat. He comes out from the anesthesia, but spends 2 hours in recovery. Finally he moves to the other floor and his parents finally get to see him. So they stay there for a bit, then come home. It's very obvious that poor Chris feels miserable and he tells us that his throat is very sore and it feels like his throat is coming out when he swallows. But Chris is a trouper and just goes about attempting to have a little snack since he hadn't eaten since the night before. We go upstairs and watch tv, he whispers to me that he will be "right back"... You know, all non-chalantly.. He comes back up and calmly whispers to me "We might be going to the ER"...... I'm thinking, Ok, might... Well we WERE going to the ER, not might.. Get to the ER and to get to the point Chris's breathing is just getting worse and worse and he feels like his throat is closing on him. They give him some steroids and go to get a Chest X-RAY and a soft tissue throat X-RAY... Turns out, when they put that pain pump catheter in they had PUNCTURED his lung.. and since they had intibated him right after the hole wasn't able to heal, and they pushed air through the hole in his lung into the tissues in his throat through the whole surgery. In addition, he had a lot of irritation from the intibation (and now has ulcers in his throat)... So after being in the ER all night poor Chris can't even sleep and wakes me up every couple minutes wandering around since he can't breathe and I'm supposed to be checking on him every 2 hours, but he was up all the time anyways. The next morning we had to go get new chest and throat x-rays to make sure the hole in his lung had closed, which it did, then we had to go to his surgeons office to get the pain pump taken out, WHICH, BY THE WAY, was DEFECTIVE and didn't ever even work. So it was a complete waste of putting it in. Eh, so yeah, I've been nursing my honey back to health all weekend, playing charades to see what he needs since he can't talk, cutting his food up into baby sized pieces etc. Poor thing, and despite all this he's been acting all tough and trying to do everything on his own and not complaining at all. Although we do ask him every 1/2 an hour pretty much how he's feeling. He is a good patient. :)
On another note, I will probably be bringing the first horse I was going to buy home over Thanksgiving. The sale fell through with the other customer and so she's coming with me again. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it works out this time. I've already confirmed the purchase, so now she just needs a current Coggins, vaccinations, and worming, which she will get sometime this week hopefully.
I have a huge zit growing on my chin and it hurts mucho.
I have a test today in Nutrition, a possible test this afternoon in Theatre (but the stupid teacher won't call me back to confirm, deny, etc) and another test tomorrow for A&P lab which I am SkUrD about taking.
Going home on Wednesday for Thanksgiving and staying through Friday or Saturday for any of you who want to know or see me. :-) So gimme a holla or write me an e-mail or something.
