I was enjoying the opening ceremonies for the summer olympics right up to the point where our power went off. And came back on, momentarily. Then went off. Which pattern it had displayed both the day before and the day before that, albeit earlier in the day and for a very short duration. This time it stayed off for about two hours. I missed the actual lighting of the Olympic torch and McCartney singing "Hey, Jude" (but I have seen that before).
I didn't enjoy every single bit of the opening ceremonies but the success ratio was very high, I think. Danny Boyle did a very fine job overall. I can't imagine the amount of work that went into this. I wonder if it took more effort than directing a movie. I wouldn't be surprised.
More on actual sports later.
