top 10 ships

Because I have spent the majority of my unemployment watching TV and finding new shows and couples to love, I thought I'd compile a little list of my all-time favorite ships.

10. Pacey & Joey (Dawson's Creek). This was the first show I ever fell in love with and this is the first couple I ever rooted for. I knew I loved them when he bought her that wall. How my little adolescent heart swelled. I am so glad that they ended up together.

9. Rachel & Finn (Glee). I love Rachel Berry and I love that the leading lady got her man. They reeled me into Glee in the first couple of episodes and while I think the writers have done a lot of damage to them (and the show!) by a lot of their after-school-special-type writing, I still think they are adorable.

8. Tyra & Landry (Friday Night Lights). This show is my newest love and oh! how unexpected my love for this ship is. Just as unexpected as they are together. When I started watching this show, I paid little attention to these two characters. Then Tyra quickly morphed into my favorite character and by the first episode of the second season I was a goner. By the season 3 finale, my little shipper heart was so happy at the evolution of these two - separately and together. I know that they didn't even get to interact in the series finale and Tyra inexplicably ended up with Tim Riggins, but I believe that Tyra's dreams are bigger than Dillon, Texas and Tim Riggins and she'll go places in life because of Landry.

7. Skye & Jax (General Hospital). My oddest ship on the list, perhaps? They are the reason I started watching General Hospital, ten years ago. They had unbelievable chemistry and were well matched in every way. I hate how they ended, but have always held out hope for them. When they shared some screentime the other week, it only reinforced that.

6. Jim & Pam (The Office). Another new love of mine. For all of the dark, broody couples who are will never have a happy ending that fill up this list, these two are my happy place. They are everything I want for myself one day. I adore their first kiss, their proposal, their wedding, the birth of their child. Everything about them is love.

5. Nathan & Haley (One Tree Hill). While I have not watched One Tree Hill religiously for a long time, I was once obsessed with these two and they'll forever hold a place in my little shipper heart. Their coming together was perfection. I still get chills when I hear Dare You to Move and think of their first kiss. And now, they're married with two kids. It's crazy to see how far this much-adored couple has come.

4. Angel & Cordelia (Angel). These two just hurt my heart. The slow build from coworkers to friends to best friends to something great big was pitch-perfect. They never got a chance to be a real couple, but I think it's undeniable how much they loved one another. My favorite couple that never was.

3. Rachel & Puck (Glee). It's my list, so I'm going to say it's acceptable to have two "rival" couples. I do like Rachel with Finn and am happy to see them together, but there is something about Rachel and Puck. I like what they bring out in the other.

2. Booth and Brennan (Bones). No one does push and pull quite like Booth and Brennan. Yet the chemistry between them is undeniable and it is in the littlest moments that they share that has made me fall in love with them over six seasons. And now they get to have a little baby together! I am so excited for the things in store for them.

1. Robin & Patrick (General Hospital). I have loved a lot of fictional couples before, but none quite like I love these two. There have been a lot of ups and downs (it is a soap opera, after all!) but the chemistry between these two and the relationship they have built over the past few years is what make them my very favorite couple.
