i just finished watching a film for my anthropology class. It's called "A Kalahari Family"
I want to do something about it. I want to raise money. I want to show other people this film. It's 6 hours long, and by the end of it, life in America is a pathetic excuse for "tough". I need to do something. I was going to try to get in contact with John Marshall, the man who made it, but it turns out he died two years ago. I just don't understand how the white people, european mostly, can be so ignorant. How we can all believe the Bushman myth. and how these people are stuck with 10 dollars a month.
Could I get in contact with them?
Could I send them money on my own? a monthly thing, taken out of my paycheck?
I need to talk to my professor. But apparently he's in D.C.
I just don't want to go back to regular life. I'll feel like an asshole, sitting here in this room with all my modern amenities. I want to be able to do something to help.
This movie makes me want to drop everything. I want to go around the country, show people this film and ask them to help raise money. I want to go to the World Wildlife Foundation and USAID and tell them they're being ridiculous. What these people need is money and support to keep their farms together, to repair their water pumps. John Marshall was right, and they all ignored him. How can you ignore this?
What do you need to go to Africa?
