The OIC conference has passed with very little exciting or newsworthy events taking place. I have to say, I watched some of the coverage on tv and Pres. Wade (who is really old and crazy) was not that interesting. So that was that.
Last week was just the usual, but I found it hard to get back into the swing of things after a week off.
I'm really freaking out about only have two months left here. I love my family here, and I love Senegal and its going to be hard to leave it when the time comes.
Yesterday I went downtown to Marche Sandaga with a bunch of people and after shopping for a bit we went to a small Senegalese restaurant where they led us back through a courtyard and into a small, dark, cramped room with tables and chairs where we sat down and ordered food. The food was effing amazing and they give you a huge plate of food and I got a drink too and it cost me about $2.50 USD. Crazy. On the car rapide ride home I had this really great conversation with a guy named Tapha who is from Mali. We talked about how its very sad that many people in many countries in Africa still have to speak in languages imposed on them by colonial rule, and that its because in schools they don't teach in native languages, which also makes it hard on students because most people do speak native languages in their homes. We also talked about how the US sucks and refuses to give anyone visas to come to the US. It was really interesting at any rate, and he didn't even ask me for my number which was amazing and great for me.
Then last night I went to church with my sister which was a good time to just meditate and think about things.
I'm excited for next week because its Easter and I am making my family an easter basket. Hope they enjoy it!
