Joy Williams

I've been a fan of her music since I saw her perform at a 'Girls of Grace' conference that my Mom dragged me to in middle school. I hadnt heard of her, but I've liked her since then. She was a very popular singer in the Christian music biz for many years. She made 3 albums and then kind of disappeared.

Her last LP definitely hinted at the direction she wanted to go, but I think the Christian music industry can kind of hold artists back. Some of my favorite Chrisitian bands/singers arent a part of the Christian music scene and I prefer it. Their music seems more genuine that way. They're not forced to just sing about God. If they do, it's because they want to not because they have to.

Well, I googled Joy Williams a few months ago and then I found her twitter, but it took me until today to really look up the stuff she's been doing since she left the mainstream Christian music biz. She has an indie/pop feel. It's very her. Her voice is very unique. I'm glad to see that she's still making music since I've been a fan since I was like, 12.

I recommend her to you guys to check out. I dont think her EPs are religious if you're not into that sorta thing.

long lost singer
