Are you happy with your iTunes music genres?

yeah, pretty happy. i try to constantly improve them though. why?

I'm thinking of trying to clean up mine. Just curious what your general categories are.

well i have general categories, like say "electronic" or "metal", and then subcategories like "electronic (ambient/experimental)" and "electronic (idm/dnb/breakcore)". but even then i want to kind of break those down further, because, in that last example, idm and breakcore are two distinct genres. but i dont really know enough yet to be like "squarepusher is definitely more idm than breakcore", so i haven't broken that down yet. still though, it helps me when i know i want to listen to electronic music, then i can decide if i want to listen to something quiet, or complicated, or dancey, etc.

Yeah, I mostly wanna have better genre's so I can make more intricate smart playlists. But I always tend to have trouble with categorization so I'm having trouble getting started.
