Wow! This computer at work sucks! It usually freezes/crashes just when I am about to complete something that I was working on for a bit. I would save often but usually what I am working on cannot really be saved without a lot of annoyance.
Ah well. I cannot complain much. I don't do much at this job. Though I can't wait to establish residency and get my education on the way. The rest of the way, that is. I already have quite a few credits built up. Getting them transferred will be interesting, though.
This would be the perfect job for that. I thought security work would be perfect but this just rocks. The extra income from the College Fund will not hurt one bit, either. I figure I will be getting at least two to three times more from it than I actually need to pay for classes/books/etc.
Fortunately I subscribed to the military.com newsletter and I get all kinds of information on how to use the College Fund and get the most out of the experience.
The small town experience can be peaceful but I don't feel I am a small town kind of person. It doesn't help that this particular small town is full of idiots. Some of these idiots are the temporary sort stopping for food, gas, or whatever from the highway. I-10 is a primary highway for travel across the Southern United States.
I was on I-10 coming through Lousiana with my ex-wife. I noticed that we were almost out of gas while we were on one of those ridiculously long bridges. True to my luck we ran out of gas just as we pulled off the thing and there just happened to be a friendly officer of the law there who helped us get to a station.
I have done things like this quite a few times. My luck in these cases seems o provide for my needs. I was driving around with
billazilla in the back woods of Georgia late at night when I was on Christmas leave in '95. We had taken a circuitous route to go pick up Theresa from work when he noticed we were getting low on fuel. Of course in Southern Georgia late at night hardly anything will be open. We had actually succeeded in getting sort of lost in all this and every place we found was closed. We happened upon an open gas station and coasted to a stop, having run out of gas at the entrance to the place. It just so happened this gas station was one next to I-16 and we found our way easily from there.
lachlan has been with me a few times when something like this has happened. His usual response is "Whew!" He's good at crazy nervous laughs, too. Remember those drives, man? I really miss them.
It happens that way financially as well a lot of the time. Just when things look bleak there comes a wind-fall, even a minor one, that saves my ass. Now that I think of it this kind of thing happens to me in a lot more ways than just these. I guess I could say I lead a charmed life in a way. Even avoiding death! Woo!
