(no subject)

It's been a while since I actually updated this thing and I suppose it's time for some information to be spread.

My last night of work is tomorrow night. The next day I will be finishing up here and going to Santa Fe, where I will meet with Jodi and the kids for a visit. On either Friday night or Saturday morning I will be driving from Santa Fe to Ypsilanti in Michigan near Detroit. I will be living with jaydeja. Those of you who have followed this thing for a bit will know her from my stories a while back. I suppose the reason no one has heard much about the situation is that I was kind of admonished about putting private stuff in here. And while normally I wouldn't give a rat's ass who read what it was information about someone else, too. So I acquiesced and haven't put much in here about it. On that note, I am once more making my livejournal public. I really have nothing to hide...

I will actually miss Colorado Springs quite a bit. She loved the place when she visited. But her job is just too sweet for now so I am moving in that direction. I am shoving all the stuff I don't absolutely need (or can't fit in the car) into a storage unit and taking off.

I just found out today that my friend, Bill, has a livejournal! Wow. He's billazilla. I have known him almost as long as I have known jaydeja. And we all met pretty much through the influence of role-playing games, just as I met lachlan through that same influence.

I met Bill in my third year of college at almost the same time I hooked up with Theresa *makes sign against the evil eye*. I have to say that for some reason (that I cannot fathom to this day) I didn't really take a shine to him at first. But being around him quickly caused me to rethink my position and I am glad he stuck around because he became to me one of the best friends I have ever had. This dude has stuck with me through all kinds of crap. He took care of me when I was drunk numerous times and TRIED to look out for me and help me not to do stupid stuff. But anyone who knows me knows that I will do something once I set my mind to it and DAMN the torpedoes! Whether it's full-out dumbass or not. I won't even mention some of the crap I have done whilst inebriated... The point is that he stuck around and supported me in spite of my going off and doing stupid things against his advisement.

I once woke up after a particularly interesting night of puking so hard that the whites of my eyes were completely red (I don't mean vein-red...I mean Satan Red) with a note tacked to my forehead and a bowl next to me in case I puked further. The guy had taken care of my drunk ass and only left when he knew I wouldn't drown on my own vomit. And at the time he didn't drink at all. I wish I had kept that note...

Bill is quite a hoot, in addition to being an all-around groovy guy. He's well-read, well-spoken, and he can take the driest subject and turn it interesting. You guys should read some of his writings. Good stuff. And with funny baked right in. He has a knack with computers and his design genius shows up in almost everything he does.

He is known for his unique taste and creative tendencies. His wire sculptures are tip-top and his knack for making a place feel peaceful is awesome. I have taken to referring to him as an accidental Feng Shui master. He takes what could be gaudy things and turns them into a medley of interesting things and peaceful feelings. His rooms have always been a place where you aren't bored but you aren't overwhelmed by it.

One of the first things I remember about Bill was at a Rocky Horror showing. He had taken some of the toilet paper thrown at that event and made it into a quite dashing turban.

I actually met Dave's (lachlan's) mom while I was in the hospital with a little ailment called orchitis. It is a swelling of certain body parts. That's all I'll say about that except that it was the primary reason I thought I was sterile for a long while. Obviously I was wrong about that one...

Well she saw my books beside the hospital bed and told me her sons played and that I should call and go play with them. I was more than happy to do so as most of what I did was design worlds and scenarios because I didn't have anyone around. My mom would DM occasionally and my sister got the bug every now and then but what I needed was a dedicated group. So I called and we visited and the rest, as they say, is history.

We visited back and forth numerous times. And when my parents started working for an insurance company based in Vidalia, GA, it was constant.

Vidalia, if any of you know the place, is not exactly a nurturing spot for role-players and general non-mainstream types. But we managed. Hadrian (then known as Adrian) and David were the closest things I have to child-hood friends. And in spite of some things that have gone down between Dave and me I consider them both brothers in ways that no real brothers could ever be and in some ways real brothers generally are. *grin* He should remind me and help me tell you all about Farris Thompson, some time. That would be an interesting project...joint LJ entries...

Dave and I shared a trailer as roommates in college. And following the admonition about private information I won't say much about that except to say that it was...interesting... I will let him elaborate on it if he so chooses and with my blessing, just as long as it's accurate and true to the best of his knowledge. ;)

As for links this was pretty funny. And this is pretty awesome.

And this young lady stepping forward and telling the truth is a wonderful thing! At the moment she did this she really did become somewhat of a hero. It takes guts to do that. It almost makes up for the government's behavior. I mean...we expect crap like this from the government.

This is awesome! I love Gauntlet! Remember Gauntlet?

I am a
Gauntlet Adventurer!
I strive to improve my living conditions by hoarding gold, food, and sometimes
keys and potions. I love adventure, fighting, and particularly winning -
especially when there's a prize at stake. I occasionally get lost inside
buildings and can't find the exit. I need food badly.
What video game character are you?

You represent... desire.
You sure are motivated. You have a definite knack for getting what you want.
You always put your own interests before those of others, and you almost
always find youself being satisfied. Though you have determination, try
some compassion. Putting others first occassionally can get you even more
satisfying relationships.

What feeling do you represent?

These people really should pay more attention to the layout. Maybe I am just a perfectionist... I had to edit a couple of these for style.

Love me or hate me, I taste like Marmite.

I am salty and sharp. My abrasive edge greatly upsets some people, but others
will gleefully endure it. For those willing to put up with me, I am a great
source of emotional health and stability. What Flavour Are You?

Which Survivor of the
Impending Nuclear Apocalypse Are You?

A Rum and Monkey joint.

What's new pussy-cat? Mmmrooow...

It was also my birthday, yesterday. *quiet a la Homestar* Yay!
I turned a crunchy 32.
My roommates got a cake and Command and Conquer: Generals as a birthday/going away thing, yesterday and Terry took me out to Hops today. That place was awesome! Their beer rocks and the food is even better. They have a sampler deal for their beers so you can try them all. It's a microbrewery, by the way. Terry rocks, too. I will miss him as a roommate.
