I think about this kind of thing ALL THE TIME. Especially how, if you could get it to work properly, communism is the best idea in the world. But like you said, people mess it up. Some ass always has an inferiority complex and feels the need to beat his chest and point to his Beemer or something as asinine. I really hate hippies, but some of their ideals do appeal to me. Just not the 'let's sit around and beat bongos and not even be productive enough to feed ourselves,' ones. There's even an online guide I found to being voluntarily homeless. I could try to find it if you're interested...
