A few movies worth speaking about recently:
Odd Life of Timothy Green. In spite of the fact that you know going in there is going to be some sad parts, it has a really good message. And a strikingly beautiful Indian woman who looks like Anne Bancroft! Maybe Anne believed in reincarnation? All the characters are well done and as Rhiannon likes to tell, people you would like to know. It isn't necessary for a big screen, but it is a good DVD pick too when it gets there.
Atonement. I can't remember the year on this one without looking, but it made my netflix list because of my lust of James McAvoy. He's just such a good younger actor. It's a chewy drama about a sexually charged scene seen by a 13 year old girl who doesn't understand what she's seeing. On the backdrop of 1935 and then WWI British. Keira Knightly also stars and she is beginning to interest me in some of her work. She can do more than just Pirates.
and that brings me to A Dangerous Method. Also Keira Knightly with Viggo Morganstern. He plays Carl Jung before Jung decides to disagree greatly with Freud. She plays a greatly disturbed patient of Jung. It is apparently a bit biographical. I know Viggo is allowed to do other things, but really I just want him to grow out his hair, stop washing it and put on a good hooded cape.
One of the marks of a good movie to me is something I can't stop thinking about. If it needs chewing on for a few days, or it leaves me feeling good. Another good movie to me is when an actor really stretches him/herself. Knightly really pulled out some stops on A Dangerous Method for a bit there. But then, she always ends up tumbling in bed with someone she shouldn't. I swear she must have her lack of breasts filmed more often than any other younger actress in Hollywood.
