I don't know why Sundays are my favorite catch up day here, but apparently it is the truth.
Yesterday, we had a very lovely armed forces day celebration! This included the parade which I didn't get to see because I was setting up for part two, the fly in at the airport. It was a beautiful blue day with high clouds and sun. The north wind was our only problem, and it did keep some of the skydivers from playing. No aerial displays, but nice anyway. I got to set up on the room of our little airport, perfect viewing stand, might I add. Very fine time was had, even if I did worry that the wind was gonna knock my equipment off the roof a time or two. No damage incurred.
Cousins delivered a few items of furniture from Nadine's house. We have a most lovely grandfather clock in our living room now, I'll post a pic later. Preston and I spent a couple hours looking at family pics last night as he identified some people I didn't know. For whatever reasons Nadine was just never a caretaker of the pictures. She loved getting them, but they usually sat in a basket on an endtable in the T.V. room. People bought her albums (including us) and some people even sent her albums with starter pics, but no, she just wasn't interested in keeping them up like that. I keep this little secret from my side of the family. I know for a fact my grandmother would be praying for her soul if she found out this ugly little secret. My grandmother has so many albums we'll have one for every member of the family. That's getting extensive, as she now has at least 2 great-great grandchildren. She has two different 5 generation pictures!
The cousin who has bought out the contents of the house is moving things out on schedule nicely. It's understandably hard on Preston. Although he doesn't begrudge them anything, he now calls the house "gutted".
All that managed to bring about a strange dream for me last night where Nadine was in her house asking me what's been going on, as if she had come back from a trip or vacation. I managed to halt it before it got sad or creepy, but not before she did manage to give some stranger that matriarch in charge look. It makes me smile.
