Dauphin Island, Alabama II

Jun 30, 2008 10:25

So this morning in an early post! How rare for me, but I thought I wouldn't keep you waiting.

I also want to share a little information with the impact that hurricane Katrina had on the island, but I'm borrowing a picture so it will be behind the cut.

Date on photo is incorrect, camera was reset when batteries were taken out to use in a flashlight during hurricane Katrina.

Dauphin Island damaged by Hurricane Katrina."

It is absolutely amazing at the devastation this island really faced, and how wonderfully it has regrown. While driving around the only thing I could think of was the horror of having to live through that on a tiny island with one way out. Some house are still barely standing from that time, they're all worn and tattered. If you ever get the chance to visit, I highly recommend it. Though I just wanted to bring everyones eye to such an event.

Moving on to my pictures!

Mobile, Alabama historic cemetery.

Pelicans at the marina.

The Exxon-Mobile oil rig.

I have this thing for pelicans apparently.

When I took this picture I instantly thought of my good friend, katilacisboss, because she has a very similar picture.
Check her out!

And this little guy was at the Estuarium.

More to come still!
