What's your child's favourite food?

I was in for a pleasant surprise when Macy requested to eat the corn that I had been steaming yesterday. I must give credit to Victoria Kindergarten for instilling this habit of eating corn.

When she first started in Victoria, I was given the month's menu and to my horror, I saw the menu consisting of corn, dragon fruit, pear, peas.... Knowing Ms Macy Lim and knowing a kiasu and kiasi mother me, I knew she won't be eating those food. Furthermore, she takes her milk and breakfast at around 7.30am and she won't be home till 12.30pm. My poor baby is going to starve! So I asked Shirley to pack snacks in her schoolbag for her. Initially, I often find the packs of snack untouched or not eaten. I got a little furious and called her form teacher and asked her if Macy had been eating. I certainly do not want my little princess to starve! She explained to me that the children are encouraged to eat the school's food, even though they do not eat or like it, because they must be encouraged to try new things. I relented a little and tried not to be too protective over that lah.

So I must give credit to them for changing my mindset about children's eating habits. Once they see that they have no alternatives, they will kwai kwai eat whatever that is on the plate. So Macy now has a wider repertoire of food-corn, dragonfruit, pear... things that Ms Megan Lim will not eat!

It's yummy mummy, why didn't you let me try earlier?

After resting at home for 2 days, Megan is up and about again.
