I AM SO SORRY

I don't know what happened, I've been really distracted. I actually missed the real last day for this meme. Blergh.

Anyway, here's Part 1 of the last ten days of the meme.

Day 21 - Favorite shipBoy, there's quite a few to name here. I have Jim/Pam, Nine/Rose and John/Elizabeth listed in my profile. And I will always love them. I think I want ( Read more... )

*sniffs* at the Tosh quote.

And ITA with you regarding Lois. I originally liked her fine in her original four episodes, but then when she came back and hung around as the bumbling comic relief I really didn't care for how they wrote her. I did start liking her somewhat in season 8 once she got into the DP and started feeling less like a spare part, but I still find her quite grating when I go back and watch the earlier seasons

What always chokes me up the most about that Tosh quite is when she says "I hope I did good", there was always something about that that just made me cry so hard.

I just never liked what they did with Lois and I had trouble dealing with her attitude a lot of the time.

Yeah, I found her very abrasive and didn't really get into all the "cute" winks to the comics with her calling Clark "Smallville" etc. A lot of what they wanted to do with Lois did make more sense once she actually was a reporter at the DP and showing Clark the ropes, but when she was just squatting at Clark's house and caling his dog "Clarkie", well she was like nails on a chalkboard to me most of the time

I don't know if it puts me in the minority, but I will always hate how she got onto the DP. HATE. They needed to take more time with that.

I had a big problem with that too, especially when you compare it to how epic they made Chloe's entrance in Thirst. I will never understand some of the choices they made with Lois's character. But then fandom seemed happy to handwave so much away with Lois (Of course she got begging letters from The Inquisitor based on one article. Of course she got offered a job at the DP by talking loudly about spaceships. She's LOIS LANE. Of course she's Clark's sole link to humanity. Of course the two of them just wake up one day in love with one another. It's ICONIC). I think in the end all of that really hurt her character

Pretty much. Not showing us a damn thing and telling us one thing this episode and another the next hurt her character in my eyes.

I think if the outcome were the same but the journey to now different, I'd feel differently. If they handled a lot of things differently, I'd feel better though!

IA, I would have liked her ten times as much in season 8 if she were introduced as a new character, or even if it was her first appearance since leaving for college in Devoted

But the "journey" was such an utter mess that part of me can never bring myself to ever fully embrace her character and forget how she was in seasons 4-7. Especially when they're still taking the same lazy shortcuts
