Recs
I don't think I've ever made recs on my journal before, I don't remember, but I have these few things stuck in my head and wanted to give a heads-up for those that don't know or haven't seen them.
I have two fic recs, and the first one is honorh's crossover "Out of Joint".
It's a Doctor Who/Firefly crossover, featuring Nine, Rose and Jack and the Firefly crew. It's a WIP, but it's kinda really fun and it promotes itself as Nine/Rose, so it's like an added bonus for myself.
The other is from SGA, featuring Dark!Liz, but not how you would think and it features a death, that really, could very well happen.
Summary: After the Wraith, after the Genii, after the Asurans and the explosions and the IOA and everything else that the Pegasus Galaxy threw at them, it struck Elizabeth as absurdly funny that it was the North Koreans who finally destroyed Atlantis.
It's by grav_ity and titled "To Korea, With Love".
Now I have a couple icon recs.
One of my favorite Doctor Who icon makers is angdelia and she just recently opened her own icon community. Her latest batch is here. It features one of my favorite Rose icons, simply for the color alone (that would be #19) and the pretty, and heart-breaking icon I'm using now.
Plus she makes amazing Chris Eccleston icons, which I just love and adore. They're absolutely beautiful. This is probably one of my favorite batches of hers, although I love them all.
cnnjunky @ nomorecasualty makes some of my favorite Elizabeth Weir icons, they're just so gorgeous and create such a mood. Here is a batch she's started, she has a claim on Elizabeth Weir at sg_100. Just great cropping, coloring and text.
shadowserenity @ serenehorizon does great SGA and even BSG icons. I'm in two of her icontests and I love them both (sf_incandescent and lantis_lims) and her icons always achieve coloring that's amazing (and I believe she uses the GIMP). I think my favorite thing about her icons is that you can't replicate them, in their uniqueness and coloring. Her creativity is just so evident. Not all of her icons are complete successes, she's always trying something new it seems :), but they're beautiful anyway.
Her latest batch here is wonderful. Even as a Sheppard/Weir shipper, I can't help but love her McKay/Weir icons, and even snagged one, and some great McShep ones as well.
obaona has some of the most amazing icons. Mostly SGA and Supernatural from what I've seen. I rec her icons because, like shadowserenity, there's no real way to duplicate her icons. They're just fabulous. Here is a website where she also keeps her icons, the latest batch is seen there and you can search through for the rest of her icons, most likely NOT dial-up friendly, so you can try her LJ where she posts her icons.
And last, but not least, snuddles @ stormfronticons. I love her icons, and she does requests once in a while and they're just great. Great coloring and cropping. Many fandoms, but she does wonderful Doctor Who icons. The latest batch shows her latest requests (mine's #8) and they're always so wonderful.
