My position at a hospital, medical records clerk, was eliminated. I worked there for 25 years and I'm hoping to transfer to a new position or I'm left with 4 weeks of severance pay. For 25 years. I was there for a steady, comfortable job. I more or less expected to work in the department until retirement. My boss helped me fill out a couple of applications for Door Screenings in our Brave New World of Covid 19. I managed to get myself credentialed an RHIt which will be phased out by 2027. 8 years ago I got the CPC credential but I've never done anything with it. Both have felt just like something I just spend dues money on; well over $2000 over the past 25 years and I've tried a little to keep up my medical coding skills but nowhere as much as I should have. I feel like a dinosaur with their eyes on the asteroid.
