Chris and Dom rushed to the room and found an unconscious Matt surrounded by shards of glass, above his head were several trophies the band had won and it dawned on the pair that these must have fallen on Matt. Chris went to call for an ambulance whilst Dom kneeled at the side of Matt and tried to wake him “Matt? Matt?” he called but there was no answer. The paramedics came quite quickly but it seemed like ages as the two bandmates tried to wake Matt without any success. Eventually Chris and Dom found themselves alone, clearing up shattered frames, broken trophies and Matt’s blood. An awkward silence had formed during this time and Chris was the one to break it when he said: “Do you think we’d better get to the hospital to see Bells?” Dom nodded in return and they headed to the car.
The pair entered building and walked down the lifeless white corridors. The strong smell of antiseptic flooded Dom’s nostrils and this as well as the guilt of knowing he was the reason they were there at that moment in time and the fear of Matt when he sees him made his stomach twist and made the drummer nauseous. “You alright mate?” Chris asked looking concerned for his friend, “Yeah, I um I don’t really like hospitals much, they bring back bad memories” Dom took a deep breath before he opened the door of the hospital room where his best friend was sat up in bed, covered in cuts which contrasted with his beautiful pale skin. On their entry they were greeted by a young brown haired doctor.
“Hello I’m DR Wilson, you must be Matt’s friends, we’ve done some tests and physically he’s fine apart from the cuts and bruises. The bad news is that he received most of the impact on his head meaning that he has a form of amnesia, he remembers certain skills like playing the piano but you’ll have to re-introduce yourselves. We don’t know for definite if he’ll be able to remember you but hopefully one day his memory will come back.”
These words has stunned Dom into silence, he didn’t know what to do or what to say. Uncontrollable tears ran down his face and he ran for the door.
