So, as many of you know, I am quite fond of the first two seasons of Supernatural, but broke up with it when I started hearing about season 3. Then i actually watched season 3, and the lingering fondness kinda died.
That said, I still follow some posts on it, and reactions to season finales of shows you've broken up with can be fun. Sometimes, they can inspire you to give it another chance.
This is not one of those times.
So, Ruby is an evil traitor. And then she dies. Again. With one Winchester holding her down while the other stabs her with her own weapon.
Based on the shows history regarding female death, I'm sure there was writhing and pinning involved.
But you know? This doesn't surprise me at all. Why? because Dean is The Hero, and the best way to spot a future traitor is to look for the person the hero endlessly persecutes for no justifiable reason (he insults her and calls her an evil bitch even when she's in the middle of saving his life, more than once). Because that person? Will always be a traitor, thus textually justifying The Hero being a judgemental ass. And in this case, an overwhelmingly sexist one.
Heaven forbid The Hero get called on his behavior and have to apologize.
And Heaven forbid what counts as the show's main female character not be both dead and evil.
Sadly, based on Ruby coming back and still being an ally and people assuring me that season 4 was much better than season 3, I'd been mildly considering giving it another chance. No where near actually doing so, but...
In short:
