Angel Diary Vol 7

So, Bi-Wal really is the King of Hell, then? I am very relieved to learn that Dong-Young is not engaged to Ryung! Except that, apparently, she only has to marry a member of the family, so I guess there may yet be drama there.

And apparently, Queen Hong only agreed to that being included in the marriage contract because she thought it would only be a formality. I really wish we could have had the scene of her unleashing her feminist rage on the King of Heaven over forcing Dong-Young to accept the engagement, instead of just seeing her headed off to confront him. I guess that explains why she told Ah-Hin and Ee-Jung to help Dong-Young hide on Earth.

And Dong-Young confessing her love! And basically telling Bi-Wal he’s a stupidhead, and she’s not backing down from her feelings just because he’s angsting! And Ah-Hin telling Doh-Hyun to stuff it when he lets jealousy cloud his judgement! And Ee-Jung pulling Queen Hong’s rank on him when he tries to contradict her!

Actually, there’s a lot of guys being called on being dumb due to angst here. It’s always appreciated. I also like when Dong-Young points out to Bi-Wal that, in trying to be a “good brother,” he has to treat others badly.

We also learn that the reason Bi-Wal is King of Hell instead of Ryung is that, since they were born three hours apart, Ryung was born at the end of the one day of the month where you don’t receive the moon’s blessing, and Bi-Wal was born on the first day of the month that you do receive it. Except that, apparently, being born without the moon’s blessing also makes you more powerful.

And flashback to when Dong-Young and Bi-Wal met at Queen Hong and the king’s wedding! wee!angsty Bi-Wal and wee!tomboy Dong-Young cheering him up and taking him to the fair! And he never works up the nerve to tell her they’re engaged! And he just stands out of the way so she can fight when a gang attacks them! And pinky swearing!

Though I’m not sure what I think of Dong-Young saying that she isn’t smart, so she’ll probably forget what he looks like, so he has to be sure to remember what she looks like for when they meet again. Why not just have her say she forgets faces? Though at least they clarified that he only promised to remember her, not to remind her of him. I do appreciate the angsty looks and wee!cuteness, but I’m not sure what I think of the extra secrets.

BTW, for other Antique Gift Shop fans, there’s a Green Rupert mentioned here, too, but he isn’t shown.   Though I think telophase  and I may be the only ones interested in that.  (The Green Rupert bit.  I think a few other people here read Antique Gift Shop.)

And YAY!  All caught up with blogging.  Except that Librarything poll and the year in review posts.
