Claymore Vol 13

Spoilers include vague reference to latest scanslated chapter.

This part, I think, is when I really started liking Riful. She’s just so honest and childlike in her evilness. I just love how she’s so disappointed in her available options for torturing. No one will ever match up to Galatea for her. And I love Claire faking her out with pretending she’s considering her offer. Except that I’m not really convinced that she didn’t have an idea of what Claire was up to.

Pertinent to recent discussions in scanslated chapters: I think we all forgot that, after he fought Luciela, Isley took over the South. And I chuckle evilly at Riful’s comments about Isley’s love for Priscilla. Ah, Isley. You have your own, unique brand of epic love. Seriously. It’s possibly the most concerning thing in the series. And not just because you created a war just to make your girlfriend more powerful.

I love the main four’s faces when the rejoin Yuna, Tabitha and I-forget-her-name.

Claire and Miria: “We are stoic and serious. Observe us with awe.”
Helen and Deneve: “We are with Stoic and Serious. Don’t bother trying to tell them apart. Please save us.”

And Deneve kicks Audrey unconscious when she isn’t being a proper unconscious damsel and disagreeing with her rescuers. Practical, but OUCH! I also forget Deneve’s relatively new fixation with the Claymore’s swords.

I’m particularly fond of the two backup stories in this volume. Teresa, I think, actually mellowed before acquiring Claire, and I always forget how Miria is actually pretty shy and uncertain under the confident leader façade.

Next up: THE SEARCH FOR GALATEA!

There will possibly be spoilers for future chapters in the comments.
