Peter, Mihinder and Sylar managed to not bore me at all. Not one of them. Joy! Well, Sylar was holding his own, but Mohinder and Peter's bits were mostly carried by the interactions with other characters. But does Sylar have invisibility powers now? I wasn't sure when he just disappeared before. And why is Sylar now so cheerful at the idea of NYC blowing up? I liked it when he was so upset by the possibility before. Though I loved his line about Peter being the villain, and how he's so much better with stolen powers than Peter is with copied powers. Better than the original owners, even.
But what was with Peter telling Claire that Nathan never let him down? Has he forgotten how Nathan tried to hide the flying from him, and then announced to the world that he was suicidal? Peter, the 15 year old is out thinking you! And a better judge of Nathan's character after 2~ weeks and no betrayals and/or let downs than you are at 30~ years and no doubt endless betrayals and let downs.
Matt and Mohinder with Molly was quite cute. I wonder who it is, though, that's scarier than Sylar. Of the current cast, only The Haitian fits the bill for what she described (where has he been lately, anyway?) I also wonder if Bennet would really have been able to kill Molly.
Hiro rescues The Precious Precious Princess Ando from Sylar and gets him out of harms way. I wonder what was worse for Ando: being told his brain wasn't worth eating, being told to stay safe and out of trouble, or almost having his head cut off by telekinesis?
Nikki gets to fight Candice-as-Jessica and access the superpowers herself (presumably because Jessica thinks she isn't needed anymore) but ultimately she's one woman with mental issues fighting a woman with emotional insecurities. This is her secondary moment. Her big moment-resolution of the Linderman plot, which was originally introduced as her plotline-was given to D.L. Similarly, she's allowed to join the fight against Sylar long enough to land one blow. Or, more accurately, long enough for Peter to get her powers. Then she's sent back to her family.
(Side note: The tragedy of Candice's storyline? That her loyalty to Linderman was rewarded by leaving her-and Micah-in NYC to die, and that she has no idea. Her "hero" only sees her as a number.)
Claire finally gets to say "screw you" to everyone pushing her back and forth and jumps out a window and goes off to save the world. Excellent. Except that her moment is then taken by Nathan. Like Nikki, she's had a season-long plotline that should have led to her doing something big, but in the end, her contribution was giving Peter her powers, not having her brain eaten by Sylar, and influencing Nathan to do the right thing. All good, but as Nathan put it "you saved the cheerleader so we could save the world." Her role wasn't to help herself, but to help make it possible for the men to save the world.
In Claire's case, I can grit my teeth and take how things played out for the simple reason that, in the end, it is best for Claire that she not shoot her uncle in the head (even without the "uncle" bit, I don't think she's ready to deal with killing anyone yet), and it is best that Nathan do the right thing in the end, though I still grit my teeth at how they did it. Linderman, however, was Nikki/Jessica's kill. Unlike with Claire, there was absolutely no excuse for taking that moment from her except that the guy has to kill the big bad, not the girl. The girl can take down (but not., as far as we know, kill) his female underling.
Simone's dad was a mutant, though we still aren't clear on what his powers were. Err...I really, really hope Mama Petrelli has powers, and didn't just marry into the game. Why? Because every confirmed mutant from then is male. Also, has anyone else wondered if the real reason Linderman blackmailed Nikki into sleeping with Nathan had something to do with the breeding program?
Thanks to years of shoujo manga and kdramas, I am now conditioned to believe that Micah and Molly will grow up and get married. Besides, she's a human tracking system and he talks to machines. Wouldn't that be an awesome teamup?
Re: Hiro in the past: While I'm sure everyone else already knows the answer, please tell me there were bets on whether or not Hiro was Kensei?
And finally, cool fights and awesome fx in this ep.
