RG Veda Vol 2

Oh wow…it’s been so long since I read Vol 1 that I kind of forgot about Yasha’s shoulders. And the hair!

OK! Souma and SDK’s Mahiro: separated at birth, or just have the same tailor?

Meanwhile, Souma and Kendappa put Touya and Yukito to shame in the “Hello! We are totally gay for each other!” department.

I love how Kendappa’s all “Oh, I’m the pretty, helpless princess here to give shelter and cart people around in my flying castle!” and then taking out spies with her prehensile veils and interrogating them.

I get to keep Kendappa and Souma, don’t I? They are proto-platonic!Kurogane/TRC!Tomoyo, only replace “platonic” with “oh-so-not-‘sub’-subtext.” That, or proto-but-lesbians!TRC!Souma/Tomoyo.

I love how Ashura was all “hmm…weird loud guy trying to fight Yasha…Whatever! Want food!” And then s/he gets it. Do not doubt the power of small cute things!

But Ashura should not be claiming that it’s good that people are too strong to die because of him! (I’ll go with Tokyopop’s translation, even though I’m told Ashura is genderless-and Ahsura reads that way to me, for that matter. Both here and in TRC.) I feel it is a kiss of death!

Am I understanding this correctly that Ashura and Tenou are twins, but Ashura is the former Lord Ashura’s kid, and Tenou is Taishakuten’s son?

So, with scenes of Yasha, Souma, Ashura and Ryuu, does anyone else think that Souma is Daddy and Yasha is Mommy and Ryuu and Ashura are the bickering kids?

You know, I get wanting to spare the poor kid’s little heart, but shouldn’t people be warning him that his mother is evil and will likely kill him on sight? They are not helping things!

Also, Yasha’s eyes turn red when he gets mad. Megan says Akimine Kamijyo is a Clamp fan! The flying Kyo hair and glowing battle aura and “ultimate move” don’t help to dissuade me from this! Not to mention “bad guy says ‘Ashura’=Yasha gets madder” = “bad guy(for the moment) says ‘Yuya’= Kyo gets madder.”

In this volume, no women died because they were in love with Yasha. I consider this to be a good thing. Though I’m sure Clamp will make up for it later.
