Castle Waiting #10: Hmm…Medley seems to have changed her style a bit. Both Jain and Simon both look different. Mostly, we have Jain, Simon and Tolly wondering about the secret passageways and setting off the traps in them. And Jain getting grabbed by a ghost. I hope we actually get the story behind the castle from BEFORE Briar Rose’s time, instead of just theories about it. There’s also Tolly dealing with not having enough faith placed in him by the other Hammerlings, as well as Chess The Babysitter. "Thanks for watching Pin. Can I have him back now?" "NO! … I mean, sheez! What the hell took you so long? Take him!"
Darkness #1: Uhm…yeah…what the hell does that "origin" have to do with ANYTHING about the Darkness mythology we’ve had for over a decade? Hrm. In theory, Jackie running a small South American country and learning more about the Darkness in good. In practice, being a drug lord is one of the few lines he doesn’t cross.
Nova #9: Did I mention the telepathic talking Russian dog in space? That runs the giant alien community built in the head of a dead celestial? Richie also manages to find a good use for the Phalanx virus, there. I have to admit, though, that I really wish he’d just catch up with Annihilation: Conquest proper already…
Annihilation: Conquest #2: Hmm…I can’t remember the fallout after this…is Moondragon dead? I remember the "WTF? They killed half of their lesbian couple!" reaction(which, you know, has a pretty valid point, but when that hit the internet, I was distracted by "BUT MY KNIGHT AND DRAGON SYMBOLISM!") but since that was the last bit of the issue, I’m withholding judgement. Wraith, it seems, does not like to play nice with the other kids, and…everyone is kinda off doing their own thing, in awesome ways. One must feel for Adam Warlock, though. I mean, he’s confused enough by being woken up way early(and with faulty memory) and way younger than he should be, then there’s the bit with armies attacking the world and his being told he’s the sole hope for the universe, and then one of his oldest friends apparently gets her heart punched out in front of him. And he doesn’t even know that his longtime girlfriend was sleeping with Nova before she was possessed by the phalanx…
