Things like this are why I read Loretta Chase

Hero and Heroine when Hero tries to win a sparring match:

"A Lady and a gentleman may not know each other unless they have been properly introduced," she said coolly.  "If they do not know each other, they cannot have met.  Since we were properly introduced only a moment ago, we cannot have met previously."

"What a madly contorted logic that is," ( Read more... )

And it's Loretta Chase, so aside fromt he editorially required adjectives and...uhm...physical reactions, the whole thing is just like that(well, the first 60 pages...)

Well, I need something to cheer me up. The book I'm currently reading is more or less driving me towards a break up with its series.

I think just hearing about the book has caused me to break up with it by not returning its calls and reading other books instead.

Those quotes sound so much better and less brain numbing.

That is because Loretta Chase is an excellent writer who both loves romance novels and appreciates the absurdity of them.

The only awesome-romantic exchange I can recall off the top of my head is from an otherwise mediocre novel. The hero's a werewolf, the heroine is a were-fox, and her grandmother has just been kidnapped by the book's villain:

"If they hurt my Nana, I'll kill them!"
"I'll hold your coat."

Yes, that type of exchange is awesome, though more rare in romances...I find them more in fantasy.

You should read Loretta Chase for awesome exchanges.

See, that's a proper Alpha Male -- one who falls head-over-heels for the Alpha Female type. One of the reasons that I like werewolf romances; in theory, they should be like that.

*takes note* She's on my 'To Buy' list!

Not Quite A Lady.

Though if you're new to her books, start with Lord of Scoundrels. It's her best.

Lord of Scoundrels is pretty much the most popular-for the good reasons-regency historical romance ever, and is regarded by many as the ultimate regencvy historical. I THINK my Loretta Chase tag should have links to 2 reviews for it.

She, Marsha Canham and Connie Brockway can always restore my faith in the genre. Jo Beverley, Edith Layton and Elizabeth Thornton help, too.

Connie Brockway is ♥!

Confession time: I did not like Lord of Scoundrels. My favourite book by Loretta Chase is Mr Impossible.

Marsha Canham, uh? *writes name down*

*hem*

Remind me which Mr. Impossible is? (There are one or two I haven't read, and it may be one.)

My favorite Canhams are Pale Moon Rider and Swept Away.
