kdrama: Spring Waltz eps 5-8

So, despite the fact that this has all the things about kdramas that annoy me...the love square, the drawn out angst, being manipulated into hating the other girl, evil parents, etc., I really like this. I don't know if the three leads are just likable enough to make me ignore the annoyances, or if I'm just in the right mood(in which case, I should probably watch the other ones I have waiting soon, while the mood is right...)

Random bits from these eps:

*This show absolutely shamelessly caters. There is LOTS of Jae Ha running around in business suits. In every ep, I think. Including running after Eun Young's car, after searching all over Seoul for her.

*There's also puppy faces. Like when Jae Ha and Phillip are looking for Eun Young...Jae Ha keeps trying to use his "I am rich and angsty" to get information, then caves and uses disappointed puppy eyes to get his way when that doesn't work. Phillip tries to communicate using his Very Bad Korean(even I can tell Daniel Henney's Korean isn't very good) then just mimes and uses giant begging puppy eyes. When applicable, he just hides behind cubicle walls and unleashes the puppy eyes on helpless office ladies.

*There was also saving of Eun Young(by Jae Ha) from debt collectors her father owed money too. Naturally, this led to both Jae Ha and Phillip sneakily trying to find a way to give her money in a way she couldn't refuse(including Phillip asking Jae Ha for advice, with neither knowing what the other was up to) because the debt collectors wanted her if they couldn't have money.

*There was also quasi-accidental Phillip-napping. To explain: while Phillip was looking for EY, he met EY's friend at their kinda-sorta-illegal street stall. When EY came running up saying the police were rounding up stalls and they had to go, he helped her friend gather everything up and she pushed him into the back in the process, and EY took off not knowing he was there. When he made it to the cab window, he and friend kept making shushing motions. Naturally, he clung to both for dear life once the car stopped. Incidentally, friend is very cute and sweet and I have decided she and Phillip will get together once he gets over EY.

*There has alsom naturally, been an umbrella in the rain scene(a very cute one) and Jae Ha's buying EY a compact after a mean lady broke hers, and then carrying it around for several eps(naturally, as always happens, CGG saw it and thought it was for her, and is now jealous because EY has it.

To add to the convulted childhood plot: After EY returned to the island from surgery(the one Jae Ha-then Su Oh-effectively sold himself so she could have) Scum!Dad came back and he and EY left together(she thought she'd find Su Oh that way) and he dumped her with his then girlfriend, who raised her as a daughter, and as New!Mom and Scum!Dad are still quasi-together, she now regards them as her parents. As the real Jae Ha is apparently dead and no one noticed he was replaced(Jae Ha's New!Mom still thinks he's the original) I must wonder...IS THERE NO LEGAL SYSTEM IN KOREA????

There is, though, one downside: Suh Do Young's hair. Now, fashion-wise, SW is fairly ok, at least, as compared to Goong, Magicians of Love, Hana Yori Dango, etc. Aside from one suit of Phillip's, the biggest atrocity seems to be a determination to keep putting Phillip and Jae Ha in bright pink sweaters. But SDY's hair...sigh...it is, as has been pointed out, rather Frodo-like.

Here is an otherwise-nice MV. Just look past the hair...
