now this is some quality wuxia angst
Currently in Romance of Red Dust, the otp has fallen off a cliff and into a river after a battle with assassins. They were, of course, separated, and the results of the fall were:
1. Li Jing apparently got gangrene in his legs from being in the water too long. His life was saved by the daughter of the local governor(who dresses like a boy and wants to be a general, but everyone knows she's a girl) who thinks he's her True Love because she was once told she would find her True Love in the water. (I sincerely hope she gets her own OTP and does not become one of those wuxia other women who marries the emperor out of revenge...those are always fun, but they always come to a bad end and I rather like this girl.)
2. Chu Cheng(it's what they mostly call Hong Bi now) is blind and has been taken to a charity house(BLIND! ASSASSIN! I love you, wuxia.) Two harpies tried to sell her off to a brothel(actually, I thought she was a blind AMNESIAC asassin for a few minutes, but apparently she was lying to make the harpies sdhut up and leave her alone when they were needling her about her past) but she was saved by the benefactor of the charity house and taken to his home. He is the son of the local governor.
3. As a direct result of 1 and 2, Li Jing and Chu Cheng are now in the same palace, but don't know. One is crippled and the other blind, and they think the other is dead.
I'm sure people will be walking and seeing and aware of each other's being alive soon, but this is some very quality stuff at the moment.
Unrelated to that, but Shu Qi has amazingly cute freckles. I wish they didn't put so much makeup on her half the time, as I think she looks better with less makeup.
ETA: Also, the governor's son saw Chu Cheng before and knows she's a fighter, and understandably finds it rather convenient that the kunbg fu expert he met on the other side of China recently suddenly shows up blind in his charity house, so he had her tossed in a prison cell. I'm sure this, too, is temporary, but I feel it's worth mentioning.
