RONDO!

I have just started watching the japanese/korean drama, Rondo.  It's basically "Japan does a kdrama."

It's essentially about Nishijima Sho, an undercover cop trying to bring down the organization that got his father killed 24 years ago.  He is a true angry and dark and angsty hero and he only person he's nice to is his partner, Hide.  I feel that if ( Read more... )

I have seen around 3 episodes a year ago. I'll just watch out for your very informative posts about it :) I like the idea of it, but am a coward because I do and because of the angst. I know! I mean I watched 1 Litre, Silence and Snow Queen willingly.

Well, so far the angst is at managable levels...it's there, but in the right amounts.

I was kinda surprised that the second episode started a fair bit later when they were somewhat friends, though, but I guess they didn't want to spend half the series just getting them to that stage.

Still, it's hitting all the right notes and kinks so far. I like the main story(though i'm very weirded out by Hayami Mokomichi playing a bad guy...I'm used to him playing lovable guys, not bad boys) and I have a serious thing for romances like this.

But yeah, I worry about what kind of ending it will have. Do you know, or are you just fearful?

I like Rondo. I heard it is close to the plot and storyline of internal affair (which I never watch) which I don't care much since I enjoyed it.

It's a bit korean-ish but in a good way and it's not so draggy and overly-romantic XD like a korean drama. this is evidenced in a scene...I don't know how far have you watch Rondo, so I don't know if this is goig to be spoiler or not....................................................

when Choi Ji woo hit her finger when tring to hit the nail into emmm chair or something, in a typical Kdrama the guy will pull the finger and suck it XD but Yutaka just ignore it which pretty much make the scene cool. it's like 'when japanese drama met korean drama' XDD

LOL. I loved that scene. He just looks at her like "I told you" then starts doing it for her. I love how they're doing the relationship, really. They're managing to have him be the dark slightly stalkery watchful protective angsty guy, but without him being a jerk about it(which is how the first ep seemed to be setting it up) He basically "lets" her do whatever she wants, but never comes across as whipped. I think the fact that she clearly needs a keeper even though she's tough helps. I loved him just automatically sitting down and eating all the food the other couple was complaining about, and then when she shows up at his apartment out of the blue he just nods and listens while she explains all the food to him, and then just agrees when she tells him that if they're sharing the dog and she has to learn Japanese, then he should learn Korean, too(she had a valid point ( ... )

I watched Rondo when it as airing in Japan in the winter of 2006 and at first, I was really excited about it because I adore Takenouchi Yutaka, but as I continued to watch, it got turned down to background noise and something I watched just to say I finished it. It does dissolve into Korean drama predictablity, so I suppose that probably did me in. That and you have Hayami Mocomichi and the annoying girl from Kurosagi playing siblings and that's just a double whammy. *laughs*

Heh...I adore Hayami Mokomichi, even if it's throwing me for a major loop that he's playing a bad guy here. The Kurosagi girl, though...*sigh* girl needs to fire her agent. Seriously, has she HAD any other kind of role? I've finished ep 5, and it is starting to rely on the melodrama, but it's not bothering me yet.
