My friend Pen came up with this exchange between Night Thrasher and NuPenance(I still don't like calling him Penance because of Penny from GenX, but I can't in good conscience call him Speedball or Robbie, either...)
For those who don't know/need a refresher course: Back when Penance was still Speedball and the funny guy we all knew and loved but Marvel decided had no fans(bitter? me?) Night Thrasher came up with the idea(I believe it was in an annual) of attaching spikes to his costume so that when he bounced, he'd screwer the bad guys. This idea was not well received.
And now that fun:
NT: Spikes, huh?
P: They're COOL and they show how I am TORMENTED!
NT: But spikes?
P: They cause me PAIN so I don't forget the PAIN I've caused!
NT: You remember the last time we talked about spikes?
P: I try not to think about my life before the PAIN.
NT: Well, last time, you hated the idea. I liked it. Just sayin'.
P: You mean that I am agreeing with you?
NT: Yep.
P: This damn costume, and everything I've gone through to become cool, is
all your idea?
NT: Well, I would have done it without all the emo posturing, but yeah.
Pretty much.
P: *levels his vague and ill-defined powers at Dwayne* Now you shall feel my
pain!
NT: We've been doing that. Feeling it, reading about it, wallowing in it,
for like a year now. We're over it. You should try that. Getting over it.
Really.
P: You used to whine all the time, 'Oh, someone killed my parents. Oh, I
can't remember their faces!'
NT: But when I did it, it was COOL.
