liveblogging: Death Note, the movie
because it is Death Note(and therefore, L) I am live blogging this movie. Expect either fangirlish squee or hate(or both) below the cut.

Ooo...that's what it's like when Light kills someone in real time...dang his fingernails are shorter than mine after I clip them.
I've noticed this a lot in doramas, but does EVERY Japanese schoolgirl have an ultra cute cell phone with cute dangly things?
Dude...your hair is mussed...you can't be Light...Light wouldn't have mussed hair if he just walked through a hurricane.
Light has mussed hair and a girlfriend? Light doesn't have girlfriends...he has too much of a God complex to have one unless she results to blackmail like my Misa...
Light doesn't get teary and frustrated, either...oooh...flashback kinda thing...I guess they want us to like him more so he'll seem even more evil later.

Ooooo...the inside flap of the Death Note with the rules looks exactly like it does in the manga...

Ok movie makers, it's been 20 minutes and no L yet...I feel bereft...you can't expect Ryuk to distract me from lack of L for more than a few minutes, not matter how awesome you make him.
Ok, we're talking about L now...that means he'll at least be on the computer soon. *is mildly pacified*

L!!!!! At long last! it took 1 hour, 4 minutes and 41 seconds, but you finally came!!! *dances*

Subber, since when is "baka" translated as "ridiculous"? Even if it can be translated that way instead of "stupid" or "idiot," it didn't quite fit.
Ok Light, accidentally saving Misa gets you small brownie crumbs...miniscule ones...
Lol... dramatic intro and declaration, pull out bag of potato chips and decisively chomp...L, I love you...that final scene face off gets the win.
All in all, it loved up to(high) expectations. There were some changes that jarred me, mostly in regards to Light, but not enough to detract from the enjoyment, and the changes were largely to let us in on what's in his head and how much possessing the Death Note has changed him from a basically good guy into a future evil despot. The alternative would have been a near never ending internal monologue. It's different with L, as he has to break things down into monosyllabic explanations for everyone anyway. Now for the second movie to be available to me(and the anime to come out here)
