1. Does anyone here watch Devious Maids or am I all alone in that one? I binged on the entire second season over the weekend, and realized I didn't have anyone to talk about it with. They did a Rebecca plot and everything this season. The cliffhanger just was not OK, though.

I never felt that Connor was a temporary character. I thought he'd at least be around for the duration of the series. I much rather thought their relationship would end because of divided loyalties, his being from the underwater kingdom, I felt that eventually he'd be forced to choose his kingdom over the kingdom of the mists. As for a relationship with Tybalt, I admit that it somewhat took me by surprise, since basically in the first book, I saw Tybalt as being a foil for Toby, something like Trent is for Rachel in the Hollows. So, I never thought that Connor would have to die in order for Toby to move on to Tybalt.

As for the rest of what you said, I think that is the reason why Tybalt and Quentin didn't die. If Tybalt had died, it would have set Toby against the Kingdom of the Cats, even with Raj in charge because Raj isn't ready to be king yet, he would have been easily swayed by others to seek revenge against Toby and probably Shadowed Hills. And yes, if Quentin had died, that would have put a target on Shadowed Hills from the High King and Queen. That's just too much pressure for the story right now. I don't know how that could have been resolved except for the High King and Queen storming in and taking over the whole kingdom and probably putting Toby to death for leading Quentin to his.

Once you're finished with the book, let me know because there's something at the end that I want to discuss with you.
