Jane is Gavin's biological daughter, despite the fact that her connection to the building had already been explained, and that the explanation for Jane being Gavin's daughter contradicted plot points from earlier on. There's also an ongoing theme of black women permanently trapped in the building with no apparent escape except death/Gavin's permission (making his comment early on about Olivia being his most prized possession possibly very literal, as opposed to just really faily).

We also have Gavin very literally trading a disloyal black daughter for a loyal and obedient white daughter. Gavin also forces Jane's father to shoot Henry so that he can force Jane to become his heir in exchange for his saving Henry. This is right after we learn that Gavin murdered Jane's mother for leaving him to go back to her husband. We cut to a year later where Jane has gotten an "evil" makeover, is casually calling Gavin "Dad," only puts up token resistance to the idea of horrifically killing people, and apparently gets pregnant on his orders. Said order includes getting pregnant with a true male heir. She seems to have completely forgotten that Gavin MURDERED HER PARENTS (he has Jane's father killed as soon as he's made him shoot Henry) and had Henry get shot to force her to join him.
