keeping in mind the added perspective of Abbie's own abandonment of and reconciliation with the person she loves the most
Ahh, thank you for this. I was sorta wondering about Abbie's new POV on Katrina, like, her son's the Horseman of Death, come on, but ofc Abbie had completely the wrong idea about Jenny and they went from being estranged to having each other's backs, so it now makes sense to me that she could see that risk with Katrina and Henry.
I choose to interpret this as Jenny's love for Abbie being stronger than resentment magically amplified 10000%:D I hadn't thought of it that way, but yessss. ♥ sibling love

Yeah, I've been sideeyeing some comments about shooting the bank teller. We don't know how long she'd been there, which is part of the interpretation of her actions, but, IMO, if she hadn't shot, either the bank teller would have, or Abbie would have been forced to shoot.
With Abbie/Katrina and Katrina/Henry, I also think that it's possible Abbie doesn't know whether or not she'd pick Jenny over everything else.
It's so strange to me how fandom is responding, like, there's Reyes protecting Abbie when the lady was clearly about to shoot, and that makes her the baddie? *eyeroll* If she WERE evil, she'd've let the teller shoot Abbie before she took her out!
being the cynic I am, I wonder how fandom would've reacted if Reyes were a handsome male white character instead no, never mind, that's too depressing
Ooh, really? IDK, I mean, Jenny's comment about not being left to rot for 13 years struck home in the previous ep, but do you think Abbie would risk the fate of the world for Jenny? Clearly Ichabod's emotions get the best of him (determination to rescue Abbie >>>> the risk of loosing Moloch's army upon Earth *headdesk*), but I figure Abbie to be more pragmatic myself...although I'm not 100% on that. You've got me conflicted now!
Oh, fandom would love cute white male Reyes. There'd probably be an essay or two by now about how Jenny should understand that boy!Reyes was just doing his job way back when,
I don't think Abbie actually WOULD, but I think it's possible she doesn't know, especially in light of the lengths Ichabod went to to get her back, and also knowing that a large part of Jenny's criminal record was that she kept being possessed by a demon that wanted her to kill Abbie, and incarcerating herself was her way of keeping that from happening. Between them, that's a whole lot of devotion and sacrifice to have piled on you in a very short period of time, especially when you've been a relative loner for years, and are probably fairly proud of that.
It's probably just a personal bugaboo, but Reyes was SO EXCITED about threatening Irving with ECT and unwanted medication, and that has made me dislike her strongly. It hasn't really bugged other people, though, so I am willing to take this as something that is goring my own personal ox.
That's actually the only thing she's done so far that's set off any alarms to me. She didn't really come across as eager to me, but she was definately using the threat of legitimate medical treatments as torture. To a degree, I can interpret it as anger over his obviously working the system in order to get transferred, but only to a limited degree.
No, no, that's been the main thing about her that made me twitchy and made me dislike her to begin with, but now I've begun rooting for her mainly as backlash against fandom hating on her for what I find to be nonsensical reasons. That, however, is not one of them!
(I've never heard of the phrase 'goring my own personal ox' and I kind of love it, btw)
Yes to the talking down! Far too many scenes like that try to talk sense into the person, but here it was just "I acknowledge that you're crazy paranoid right now so I will make an argument that is in the paranoia's best interest"
