MY THEORY is that old!Alec also had a Kiera, but that something bad happened with her (either something happened to her, or she went bad herself) and so he manipulated the life of "our" Kiera so that things would turn out differently for her. i also think it's possible that the Kiera we see at the very beginning of the pilot isn't the Kiera who we saw land in the past. The Kiera in the first few scenes, and in the flashbacks, is much softer and more open than the Kiera we see in the present, who was initially very cold and detached, almost robotic in a way. (Which some attribute to bad acting, but I think it was very conscious on Rachel nichols's part.) My working theory is that the opening scenes of the series and the flashbacks are actually a different Kiera's life, which old!Alec had somehow programmed into Kiera's suit to kick in once she made contact with young!Alec.*
Which is my longwinded way of saying "yup, I think Kiera is going to be forced to kill another version of herself who came back first." (I mean, that's definitely her season 1 coat, and the ponytail she sometimes sported.)
The full trailer drops a pretty big hint about Alec's girlfriend. (Though, even if she does come back, I wonder how long they'll keep her? I mean, Jason won't be born for several decades yet, unless he's in amazingly good shape when he travels back in time.)
*somewhere in there is a side theory that Alec's dad is actually the grown up version of some Kiera or another's son who went back in time to find his mother, and then things happened.
