kdrama: Faith eps 9-10

Yes, I'm very behind. No spoilers or hints about future episodes in the comments, please.

I would so be all over the idea of Eun Soo being a time travelling doctor hopping through Korea's history (Maybe she can be Dae Jang Geum too?) except for the fact that she'd be utterly miserable, and her hair dye, deodorant and makeup are going to run out soon. But aash, I find her figuring out politics and trying to learn that game so much more interesting than the actual politics. And I knew it'd only be so long before she saved someone who was going to either kill someone or end up doing something bad.

Though, I have finally grown to like Gongmin in these episodes. Conversely, I found Choi Young rather trying? I enjoyed his backstory stuff and his working on his death wish, and I enjoy him when he's being awkward around people (and being bossed by his aunt) and/or a tsundere about feeeelings, but I really dislike the way he drags Eun Soo around and when he isn't telling her things and leaving her in the dark so that she ends up stewing. When he dragged her out after learning about fluteboy's superhearing and was yelling at her to stop talking, I wished I could have gone into the screen and yelled at him that it was his own fault anyway for blindsiding her with the treason thing and then not bothering to go talk to her about it. I mean, I get the ploy and it was the best one available, but it was an awful thing to do to her and she's justifiably pissed. I may have ditched him and shipped Eun Soo/Dr. Jang for a little while after that. Dr. Jang, why always so suave? (Side note: I totally dig the Wudalchi more all the time, and I also dig the wuxia uncle and cronies. Side note 2:  Choi Young, what did you do to your hair?  Why the asymmetrical fringe?  A wasn't it wavy?  Did Eun Soo have a straightening iron that you found and charged with your fingerlightning?  Mind you, it's not bad, just very...modern.)

I really, really hope we get backstory for Gi Cheul, Soo In and fluteboy. Partly because Soo In and fluteboy are so very loyal to him, but don't seem to like him much. (I find Gi Cheul and Soo In fascinating, though I'd never want to be in a shared reality with them. Fluteboy is...there.) There are times I think Soo In genuinely wants to kill him, and I'm starting to feel bad for fluteboy despite his lack of personality because he seems so unhappy sometimes. Before the end of episode 10, I was thinking they might end up switching sides (or rather, that she'd get fed up with Gi Cheul and switch sides, and he'd follow, as initiative doesn't seem to be a strong suit of his) though not necessarily be redeemed, but that seems to be off the table now. It also saddened me because even though there was no chance of it ever happening, I liked to imagine that Eun Soo and Soo In would become time travelling companions. (Side note: Gi Cheul is distractingly attractive at times, though not distractingly so enough that i forget he's a sadistic kidnapping child tormenter and torturer. Is this what it feels like to like Damon Salvatore but still think he's awful? Wait, I think I feel unclean now.)
And, uhm, was tat a Korean cover for a Celine Dion song at the end of ep 10?  I mean, I'm sure it wasn't, but it sounded like one.
