The manners comment made me take notice and skip back to the beginning, and you can see how Michael is kinda holding back because of the whole "I trained you/you think you're doing the right thing" bit and then he just goes "to heck with it" and goes to town on the guy.
With Sean I went "Did he just say cereal? He's on too many pain meds, he probably does."
Birkoff has this blog where he talks about how his control freak sister and her semi-control-freak boyfriend always make him be their marriage counselor and how his baby sister is scared of fffeeeeeeeeelllliiiiinnnnggggssss and should hook up with this new guy who likes her. Ryan and his superpower will discover it.
Ryan and Birkoff are serving similar functions for Team Nikita right now in a way, and Birkoff seems to be teaching him some computer guru skills. Without Birkoff, they'd be about back where Nikita and Alex were in season 1, so we know that they can function without him, as useful as he is. He seems the most expendable member of Team Nikita right now, unless they're planning to off Sean or Owen, but Sean is still new-ish and I doubt they'll want to have to find a NEW love interest for Alex next season (because we know CW won't let her stay single) and while Owen is popular, there'd be a lot less emotional resonance just because he's kind of the field agent who shows up sometimes.
