New trailer for Ridley Scott's Robin Hood, which doesn't quite as strongly resemble "Gladiator in Sherwood Forest" but still has a lot of that feeling.

Hmmmm I don't know how I feel about all this anti-monarchy talk in a Robin Hood film. I mean Robin Hood has always had the theme of King Richard returning and Robin Hood fighting against the injustice of a King ruling without the right to rule. This trailer kind of feels as though he's fighting for democracy which just jars me

Yes. It's possible that this is one of those things where the entirety of a theme is in the trailer and the actual product has much less, but I suspect it's significant that the movie is set after Richard's death.

One can only hope that if they're going down this route that it'll end with Magna Carter and then I can justify it to myself!

I know right? No one ever uses the Magna Carter in film! And I can get at the plot the trailer is portraying as long as they tie it in at least a little with history!
