After volume 20’s rather plot and character driven scenes wrapped up most of the almost-neverending prison arc, this was a rather low key volume. Which, for Blade of the Immortal means everyone fought their way to a conclusion in a bloodbath.
A few comments:
1. The page of Manji and Doa posing and the spread where they were slicing up the masked guy might be some of Samura’s best art.
2. I’m glad to see that Rin didn’t lose her crazy brilliance now that she’s reunited with Manji, which is something she’s somewhat prone to do.
3. I was really holding out hope that Anotsu sent Renzo off to stay with someone’s nice relative or something. I wonder how long Manji will only have one arm. *ignores Shira*
4. I completely kept forgetting that Manji was still chained to the wall until it came up!
5. I loved Anotsu’s reaction to realizing that Rin (with assistance from Doa) was behind everything.
6. Does Hyakurin have a new hairstyle? Is anyone else worried about all these new immortals running around? Is Rin going to make a habit of kissing Manji out of the blue? (I’m not sure he’s ready for that. I’m not sure I’m ready for that.)
