Oh Marvel, Why?

Openly sexist.  Openly racist.  Openly what next?

Says Tom Brevoort:

Because we’re an American company whose primary distribution is centered around America, the great majority of our existing audience seems to be white American males. So while within that demographic you’ll find people who are interested in a wide assortment of characters of diverse ethnicities and backgrounds, whenever your leads are white American males, you’ve got a better chance of reaching more people overall.

Too tired of this garbage to properly comment on it.  I'm sure you can all do a better job of it than me.

Expect a lot of the usual (and plenty of "you are an idiot and being racist," thankfully) in the comments.  Warning for "anime character totes look white to me so they're white and that's all there is to it."  Oh, and comic book fans don't read manga, and vice versa.

And the image in the post is one of those that makes me desperately long for a gender reversed version so that we could have a "pictures speak louder than words" moment.  (Try picturing a man in that pose.  Go ahead.  Try.)
